About Colleen RanneyFind me on Facebook
I was born in Wingham Ontario Canada in 1973 and raised by my grandparents in a Mennonite home. Lack of colorful surroundings quickly got me interested in art and the world of art. At the age of four I was diagnosed with Autism. Throughout life I painted for fun and to explore different sides of my personality. I found that painting helps calm my mind and ease my social anxiety.
My professional Art career began in 2007 when I sold my first painting. I have used Acrylic, Watercolor, Charcoal and Pastels on Canvas. All of my paintings are abstract in nature and reflect real life, still life or are inspired by other forms of created media. Although most of my paintings do have some use of a paintbrush, I also use my fingers or random tools of wood or metal to create the strokes.
Since 2007 I have created over 50 paintings exploring as many bright and beautiful colors as possible. In 2009, my husband and I created a website for me to start displaying and offering my artworks to the public. From there, other people and organizations started offering me showings of my work at galleries and functions. Some of my paintings have been donated to support Autism research and acceptance which I am really happy about.
